How we’re helping to make welders safer at work with FR expertise
Welding has many dangers. For far too long, welders have been under-protected in terms of their safety apparel, leading to worksite injuries. Wearing the right protection while at work can help to prevent these occurrences. Adding an FR Jacket to a welders kit is crucial to the safety and happiness of each worker.
Everyone is familiar with welding masks and gloves, but what has often been neglected is body coverage and exposed skin. We’ve worked long and hard on improving upon traditional welding garments and are nearing the completion of a high-quality and affordable option for welders. Incorporating our expertise in flame-resistant clothing for workers in electrical utilities, we are now working to create a lightweight, comfortable, durable, and safe jacket for welders that will better protect against workplace hazards.
In a recent wear trial of our MWG SLAGSHIELD Jacket prototype, we were able to gain some insight and learn more about what welders really want and need from their PPE. Our innovative design and fabric was complimented – while elements of the design were critiqued. It was a great opportunity to learn what works – and what doesn’t – in our initial prototype, helping us to further develop and enhance the experience of working in our welding jacket.
Gaining feedback on our items is an integral stage in our design. By receiving honest thoughts and opinions from those actually wear our apparel, we can work to further improve and innovate. Combining our experience in fabrics and design with the expertise of workers who wear our garments daily, we are able to create workwear that people really love to wear shift after shift.
